In other news, I called SBC DSL, today, as I needed to do two things.
1) Get my reverse DNS resolution worked out, and,
2) Find out why I was locked down at 128-160K uplink, when I'm supposed to be paying for 256K up.
On the DNS, I got told that I needed to email the request in, and that it would probably take 24-72 business hours. I don't know about you, but that sounds like 3-9 business days...of course, it's possible that they really meant 1-3 business days, but until the reverse DNS is working, I'll work the pessimistic angle.
On the speed, it turns out that they put me in for the less expensive, slower plan. While I wouldn't mind spending less money, I do want and need the additional outbound speed for you, my faithful readers/viewers. So, by Tuesday of next week, I should have the appropriate 256K uplink speed.
If things go well, and I find that I can afford the extra, I'll probably move up to the 384K uplink speed, later.
Oy.
