Ok...I'm in a much better mood about this whole blood sugar thing.
Monday, we had our friend Mark over for dinner. Mark's a type 1 diabetic...has to take insulin.
We had great conversations, including a good bit about diabetes. He gave me some good ideas, including what might be a great target for max carbs per meal...targeting 60 grams or lower. Another thought he's had, which he has observed but doesn't know if there's any scientific basis, is that eating pork has helped him lower his sugars.
So, I've been working that angle...this morning, I woke up at 121, tying for the lowest my morning levels have been, so far. This evening, after having had a decent lunch (which included some macaroni), a good dinner (pork ribs and broccoli), my meds, and a walk both after lunch (vigorous walk, at that) and after dinner (not so vigorous, but that's ok), my evening level was 131!!!
With an evening level that low, I'm hopeful that in the morning, I'll be below 120 for the first time (morning levels, that is. I've hit 119, once in the evening, but it was higher by the next morning).
Guess I'll see.
I'm keeping my levels charted at this link, which is also in the upper right hand corner of my main page. Starting tomorrow, I limit the graph to 28 days, and once I'm through my first full month, the graphs will start getting saved off in monthly segments.
I'm a little psyched.
We also finished rebuilding Bubba's playset, this morning. Now, the boy gets to climb, slide and swing. Maybe he'll get lots of energy out, again.
