In last Thursday's entry, I noted that the work order was being sent to the excavation crew, to fix the water meter issue.
Yesterday, after not having seen any progress, nor having heard from anyone, I called Julia to inquire. At first, she told me that the work order was still in the system, and that she didn't have any idea when it might be scheduled.
As pleasantly as I could, I asked her if we could find out.
She told me she'd have to get back to me.
Yesterday afternoon, while I wasn't looking, the excavation crew must have been out. When Laurie and I returned from dropping off the kids/getting dinner/buying fish pond supplies, I noticed that I could no longer see the hole in the yard. I went down to the sidewalk, and noticed, to my surprise and delight, that the meter was now flush with the yard, around it.
Today, I called Julia and...to her complete amazement, I'm sure...thanked her for helping to get this issue resolved. I am sure that she doesn't get many thank you calls from home owners...she really didn't seem to know what to say, at first.
I figured I owed it to her, though...I was a little rough on her, last week. Not that I didn't have to be, unfortunately, but while it was necessary, I thought it a good idea to let her know that I was appreciative of the effort she did put forth once I put the screws to her. Maybe the thanks I showed will serve to stimulate a higher level of service in the future.
In the meantime, it's still gratifying to know that things will now get done a little quicker, if only because the developer's service department won't want to hear from me, again.
